Around The World In 80 Days Hans Zimmer soundtrack - cover

The soundtrack for the hit TV show Around The World In 80 Days, by legendary film composer Hans Zimmer, Bleeding Fingers composer Christian Lundberg, and score producer Russell Emanuel has been digitally released.

Around The World In 80 Days is a new adaptation of Jules Verne’s classic adventure novel starring David Tennant, Ibrahim Koma and Leonie Benesch. The BBC’s popular series launched on Boxing Day in the UK and the season finale aired on Sunday (30 January).

“It was a great honour to help bring the iconic tale to life”

Hans Zimmer said, “It was a great honour to help bring the iconic Jules Verne tale to life with such an amazing team. During this time as the world stood still and no one could travel, it was thrilling to experience the wonders of the world though Phileas Fogg.”

Hans Zimmer began working on the main title theme for Around The World In 80 Days with Bleeding Fingers composer Christian Lundberg, and it was then decided that Christian would go on to score the series with Hans and Russell as score producers.

Simon Crawford Collins, Executive Producer, explained, “When Russell sent over Hans’ initial ideas incorporating the striking of Big Ben, we knew we had something really special and perfect for the tone of 80 Days. Music is an absolute passion of mine and working with Hans and the team has been a career highlight and a huge privilege, not to mention a brilliant and collaborative process. What Hans, Russell and Christian have achieved truly lifts the show to another level again.”

David Tennant stars as Phileas Fogg

David Tennant (Doctor Who, Good Omens) stars as gentleman adventurer Phileas Fogg who sets out to travel around the world in 80 days with the help of his irrepressible valet Passepartout (Ibrahim Koma), and determined and headstrong journalist Abigail ‘Fix’ Fortescue (Leonie Benesch). For these three damaged, disparate souls, who leave England on their extraordinary mission, the challenges and characters they encounter during their remarkable adventure opens their eyes forever.

The series was adapted by a team of renowned writers led by Ashley Pharoah (Life on Mars, The Living and the Dead) and Caleb Ranson (Child of Mine, Heartless).

Simon Crawford Collins noted, “The story is not only about how to get around the world in eighty days, though it is fun to see the challenges of physically moving around the earth in 1872. It is more a question about the personal journey we all make and the big questions about what risks you are willing to take in order to have a fulfilling life. Do you stay tightly confined in your narrow space or do you go off and start an adventure?”
