'Saturday Night Live' star Kenan Thompson joins 2022 Emmys as host

Live from the Microsoft Theater, it's Kenan Thompson! Bravo to NBC and the Television Academy for their selection of the Saturday Night Live star — who starts his 20th season on the variety sketch series this fall — to host the 2022 Emmy Awards. Funny, of course, but also musical, clever, and beloved by Hollywood and audiences alike, Thompson is the perfect choice to lead the proceedings on TV's biggest night. Might one (or some) of his classic celebrity impressions or popular SNL characters make an appearance during the ceremony? Fingers crossed. But based on my conversation with him the day the hosting announcement was made (available soon on The Awardist podcast), he is quite keen(an) to do a big opening musical number.
